- At the south end of Otorohanga township (on State Highway 3) turn onto Otewa Road
- Drive under the overhead railway bridge
- Follow Otewa Road for approximately 12 kilometres
- Turn right onto Barber Road
- Travel for another 2.29 kms to 229 Barber Road
- Kamahi Cottage and the homestead are on the left, clearly sign-posted: "Kamahi - E.J. & E.M. Cowan"
